Yep looks a good signing this one. There are an increasing number of Scandinavian players coming to this league but Todd doesn't seem to have the contacts or the know how to recruit from these leagues, in fact the last Scandinavian player ( Suoraniemi ) came to us through recommendation from a fan I believe? I do hope that Todd has ditched his north American contact who described Cameron as an aggitator
Cracking piece of business by the Caps. Will be very interesting to see what kind of team he can build on what is likely to be the smallest budget in the league. It's about time the Edinburgh public supported their team in greater numbers and this could be the catalyst for that.
Apart from the headline of another player leaving, just Todd telling us what we already know....we are behind all the other teams, we need to review our recruitment process, we are working hard behind the scenes la de da de da......groundhog day
Hockey players talk to each other, ask each other about places they have played. I can't see many giving positive feedback on fife. From the management all the way to the fans. Run like a Mickey Mouse organization, Stone Age ice arena, evening training, having to over play due to lack of brits that can play at elite level, keyboard warrior fans that take to social media to cut down players. Etc. just some examples. Can have all the budget we want but if players don't want to come here we are stuck with the same thing every year. Players say what we want to hear to start off on the right foot and not ruffle feathers, would love to hear what they actually think.
As for next season I really don't see any returning , maybe 1 or 2 if that. Budget will be brought down , gonna see younger NCAA or Low end echl. Single guys to cut on housing and cars. Sure kitty's like the sound of that. We are so behind on the other teams unless they are going to blow our minds with 5-10 signings in one day haha.
But it works both ways, some players will give a glowing appraisal of life in Fife. Zero risk of getting cut, no drink curfew, play poorly but you're guaranteed a regular shift, no need to interact with junior players etc, etc, etc
I thought Phil would be pretty likely to return if anyone was too, as you say looks like it'll be an almost fully new line up, might not be a bad thing
I agree it wouldn't be a bad thing............If we had a coach who had good contacts... if we had a coach who had the first clue how to balance lines... if we had a coach who implemented a fitness programme for players... if we had a coach who gives a hoot about the off ice antics of players...if we had a coach who wasn't afraid to show someone the door who wasn't up to scratch, etc, etc etc.
I don't get this 'he is a good 3rd line player rubbish'. This is the Elite league, you need all your imports to be of a high enough standard to play on any given line on any given night. Three strong lines as a bare minimum is a must in this league or you get left behind, as we have in every season since taking up membership.
