I simply cannot believe how many offsides are getting missed at EIHL level and i am not talking about mm's that 2nd goal was at least 10ft offside, this is a regular occurrence by officials we have seen for a couple of years or more not beginners. pretty poor imo.
Totally agree with this.
Got a decent spot at top of section C to see offsides at the bottom end and I can hardly believe some of the ones that get missed. Saturday's officiating was a new low in the sport and the missed offsides played a big part in that.
Another thing that really bugs me is something Todd said in the off season interviews, they know an enforcer (Matt) puts more bums on seats yet don't sign one they know fans want to be entertained but don't sign guys who will fill this role.
Is it just me or do we not really have any real fan favorites. The storm are going out of their way to fufill this role with Neilson very much in the same way Belfast have with Keefe and I suppose just like Fitzgerald Janssen McGratten do/did at their respective clubs.
Forget the enforcer debate as such, If we know we will generate bigger crowds and more money by putting a more physical team on the ice that can fight with the top guys if and when required (not just for the sake of it) why would you not sign these players?
I just cant get my head around it!
Yup they've brought up the gate based thing in numerous interviews, they know for a fact that bringing in a couple enforcer characters put more Bodies in the rink... so from a business point of view why isn't that the first signing they make in the summer? Makes absolutely no sense at all.
Even when Scoonie was crashing into folk mid-ice on Monday the crowd were getting into it more than at any other time. People like the physical aspect of ice hockey.
Another thing if we are such a gate based club, where's all the pack the barns disappeared to? That's probably the best PR things the club has done and they actually worked... but no let's not do that, it requires some effort!
'Pack the barn' nights died a death because they didn't have the imagination after the first 2/3 to incentivise them.
You couldn't just keep marketing a night where you were simply asking fans to turn out in bigger numbers and nothing else. I'm pretty sure the last one was a damp squib with no difference in the normal attendance (a Caps game?).
They worked when we were getting very poor crowds but gradually getting a more competitive team.
If they were to do one now exactly how would they market it to a very disillusioned fanbase?
Would have been pretty excited about this if it had happened a month ago.
Was a good player seems to be on a steep decline production wise...Let's see how it goes but not too excited yet.
Agree he's probably not fulfilled what was expected of him but even his recent numbers suggest he could have helped the Flyers immensely during this crucial period where we've continued with what we have. I'd say in some games-Monday being a good example, we've run out a variety of lines that just won't score barring a miracle. We even managed to nullify our own 2 best players in Dingle and Fox at times. Even one extra body who can score would have helped.
I am still dumbfounded by this call. How can ANYONE embellish a hooking or tripping call? - If it's embellished then it's not a hook or a trip is it? You literally can't call both.
It's not an uncommon occurrence to have one player binned for hooking and the other binned for diving so you can have both. However... in this case it was just the wrong call and Toby only called the supposed dive when Clan started making a fuss.
We really got the wrong end of Toby's calls tonight which is not uncommon against Braehead. Made no difference whatsoever to the result mind you - utterly outplayed and awful to watch.
Excellent effort by Schaber. Even fight overall but he was clearly about to do some serious damage before the 'take down' - the most over rated 2 words in hockey. Can't believe 'Cescon GOT the take down' is seen as some kind of victory - it was blatantly obvious why he pulled himself and Schaber over.
Generally a supporters trust would be set up to allow some kind of fan input into the running of the club. Sometimes it’s just fan representation on the board that’s sought, whilst other groups are looking to take complete control of clubs.
Like others I’m sceptical as to whether our owner would be willing to consider input other than his own in terms of how the club is run and if that’s the case it’s a no go. If the owner was approached and was open to it then I’m sure there would be plenty of interest from fans though.
A trust shouldn’t just be pumping money into the club with nothing in return which to me would appear to be the case with this Braehead set up.
Just goes to show most people on here (including myself) have no clue of what the flyers are doing 99.9% of the time with regards to recruitment or most things in general.
Yeah but most people just accept that and don't make up stories. Others who do know a bit generally keep it to themselves. It only takes 1 person to do that and you have a 'forum rumour'. Not sure what the motivation is in making things up but that's all that's happening really- it's not like everyone's at it.
