He lost control of the puck after some nice stick handling through the Flyers zone early in the second and his stick went in late on Owen. A wee bit of pushing and shoving in the aftermath but can't remember who was involved. He took two for slashing and I think that was fair enough.
A flyers d man (could not see who) pushed him, Faryna turned round to face him and the flyers players parted like the waves, and one actually high tailed it away as fast as he could go. We are really really really lacking in toughness
It was Haines and wow he turned down the team toughness for sure. But our powerplay is our 'Enforcer' is it not
It will however be the first game i have ever seen the goal judge asked to leave !
I don't know why those guys waste their time volunteering to do the goal judge. Their input means hee haw. They're there to light the bulb up that's it. That was just Toby sticking his chest out showing whose boss. However I would like to see the the footage from the goal camera to see if it was in or not.
Out coached once again. Time out left far too late to change anything.
Totally agree take a risk earlier for a 2 goal deficit . A quick goal gets the team and fans alive and you have so much more chance imo.
Every coach calls it their way though .........I just would have called it a lot lot earlier - around 5 mins in this game as were not threatening them anyway so put it all on the line to get back into it and leave time for the crowd and team to get going in the last few minutes.
There is the possibility that no one on this forum has this game's program, it was near, 15 years ago.
lol - Some of us are oldies on here ! ( Sorry dont have the Devils programme in question )
I think I stopped buying programmes about 15 years ago - I have loads from '82 to 2000 but stopped once had too many to read again.
Before Youtube and instant pictures etc it was really good fun reading over the game stats and recalling the game with the goal and penalty timings to act as reminders of the game and i filled them in religiously. My favourite programme is Flyers v Vikings when Dave Stoyanovich scored 13 goals to get into the Guinness Book of Records. I've got all the timings: scorers, assists , penalties ... from a total of 22 goals in that game ( Danny Brown got loads of points, mostly assists obviously )
Thing is though Dave signed the programme so in my eyes is my best programme
Cannot be another one like it - for a Flyers 80's fan anyway ........ reminiscing now about great barn days and the real Flyers - Racers Rivalry :-)
The scoreline flatters us and if it wasn't for the work rate of Brooks and Dingle, it would have been a closer scoreline. We were outworked by a short benched Caps and nearly paid the price. We may still pay the price as it looks like Schaber may have a concussion judging by the way he went of and a couple of other guys have lower body injuries. Play like that on Monday night and we'll get slaughtered.
I totally agree. The way we made such hard work of that game tells .... We really showed our stripes tonight No killer instinct and no killer tactics. If it was not for a few decent efforts from Dingle and Finucci we could have lost to a depleted Edinburgh bench with a first time start - 19 year old goaltender put in at the deep end ( Well done BTW - MOM for his good first full performance !) but we didnt make him suffer half as I expected. Blame the ref , blame the good play by Edinburgh's players for holding us off their keeper OR like myself wonder why we couldn't have made a better showing.
Like was said before by another forum member never underestimate an understrength team but really was that a good flyers team tonight ? 2nd we have the full strength Shoppers ( minus one idiot ) at the barn . Will we win playing at that standard ?
