Local players will never be import level if there are no space for development. Its a tested formula, playing with better players makes you better. Our local players, as well as GB hockey as a whole, will never improve and only decrease in quality if import levels are maintained this high, it NEEDS to decrease, there is no other option. If you want to watch 15 Canadians play another 15 Canadians, go turn on premier sports, there are plenty of NHL games to watch. Anyone who wants to see young local players given an opportunity must support the reduction of imports, its the only way. And if you don't care about the local players then you're just as small-minded and ignorant as Neil Black and the other owners.
Small minded and ignorant because we want to watch the best product available. Of course you are right because your opinion is the only one that is that matters, it's the same as saying if you want to watch local players go watch the kestrels or the juniors. There is nowhere near the amount of talent within any club in Scotland to replace a large amount of imports with home grown talent. Watch Todd's interview on Facebook he explains it perfectly.
Wasn't there but did see on Twitter Owen got run by Faryna. Was it a bad one and did anybody do anything about it.
He lost control of the puck after some nice stick handling through the Flyers zone early in the second and his stick went in late on Owen. A wee bit of pushing and shoving in the aftermath but can't remember who was involved. He took two for slashing and I think that was fair enough.
A flyers d man (could not see who) pushed him, Faryna turned round to face him and the flyers players parted like the waves, and one actually high tailed it away as fast as he could go. We are really really really lacking in toughness
So...what's the story with Dingle? And why isn't it mentioned on Flyers FB that he's not playing?
Flyers not mentioning it until everyone's paid at the gate?
Yet another example of why Flyers PR needs revamped. Once again the paying public are treated shabbily.
We did however have numerous tweets updating us that we were treating one of Kirsty pals from the American Embassy to free game and puck drop. Dingle not playing has been known for most of this week, but no tweets about it then, and still no information from the club. Brilliant Flyers. The game itself well...It showed again we lack quality. We have 3 or 4 great players, a couple of good players and a lot of mediocre players. Todd in his interview once again says that players consistently not working hard enough or doing what they are asked. Hockey players have a great job because I know in any other job you would be shown the door for that.
Sport is an entertainment business. If your paying public aren't happy they spend their money elsewhere.
Sorry then go to the cinema or a concert or wwe . if you want to be entertained . Sports is a win or lose business . I pay my 16 quid to watch a sport I love ; and I understand it's not going to be enjoyable to watch sometimes because they may lose and play like ***** or the game might be boring style , but I go to watch ice hockey and cheer on my favorite team. Yes the off ice entertainment aspect needs DIRE help from the front office and that needs to be brought up any way it can but speaking for myself and most hockey fans that I'm ultimately there for the 60 minutes of the hockey game and walking out of there watching a fife flyers win. Some will agree and some won't that's the beauty of this forum.
You don't grab the concept that fans are doing that and spending there money elsewhere, how you perceive that as a positive thing I just can't quite understand.
Well it's that or we in this forum can make the changes we want and the latter not gonna happen (out of our control last time I checked) so let's keep the negativity out of the FIA
How can you keep negativity out when we are rank rotten and mostly boring to watch. People pay 16 quid to be entertained. Despite what you say sitting there for 2 hours bored as long as we get a scraped win is not all right or value for money. Your don't turn up if you don't like it attitude unfortunately seems to be the one adopted by the club and about 600 customers per game are doing just that. When lack of crowds make our "gate based" club not viable in the elite it will be down to the directors and Kirsty not giving a hoot that the fans wernt happy and stopped coming.
Got to disagree there bud , that was a borefest I struggled to stay awake, the only entertainment was Scooney making a total Pratt of himself
And of course the itchy trigger finger on the goal judge again, This team is just not entertaining to watch, and I hope it's just a slow start for Cameron because he did not bring a lot. For two and a half periods this game was just another snorefest
He will be on big money, and for a really poor points return, not worth the cost in my opinion .
He is not here to put up points but compare him to the other tough guys around the league and he is well ahead points wise. In fact go and have a look at players he is on the same points as or guys 1 or 2 points ahead of him, you might just be surprised. Considering what he brings to the team in other areas 16 pts in 30 games is a good return for an enforcer.
A lot of money for an enforcer though, who in the NHL tend to be among the lowest paid on the team. I would love to have a Rosehill or anyone with toughness on the team, but not at the money an ex NHLer would command here. Enforcers typically play 3rd or 4th line minutes whereas Rosehill is played on the top 2. I'm sure we can get the toughness he brings for a lot less. More points than Klotz but 3 goals less. (One goal from your top 6 forward is a poor return in any league)
