Listen to what Tom Muir says about Arena Teams mixing in a League with Rink teams from 2011 That's right where we are now only Arena teams are out numbered now some compromises on both sides or the end of EIHL as we know it on cards
What needs to happen is get the import level down to 10 at most and bring on British players
I think 14 imports is right number we can get 3 up and coming youngsters they are in the system, its the 5 quality Brits to make up the 19 is the concern for Flyers Fans anyway With 14 imports you get a good quality game of Hockey and that's what the paying punter wants to see
Finished over 50 this season so year on year Todd will say improvements are happening and club moving in the right direction no doubt.
2 Points down on last season, worst challenge cup campaign since season 1. Conference challenge was shockingly bad. 2 targets Todd set out that we failed to get even close too.
League position matched so that will be a positive. Record against Erhardt teams an obvious positive. More losses at home than wins however.
60 games played 27 wins 33 losses. A losing season - the 7th in a row!!
196 goals for 218 against despite having the best goalie in the league. Who faced over 2000 shots in 60 games, in the league he faced over 200 more than the next highest guy. A slow defence that didnt throw any hits. Add in forwards not blocking any lanes or forechecking on each and every shift. All things pointed out on the forum back in September/October.
Todd's end of season report "cliche" sweepstakes:
"Injuries stopped any chance of any real challenge in our conference" "we only had a full import quota x times" "players not sticking to systems" "we are getting better every year" "local club for local players" "my hands are tied" "i cant ask for more from the directors" "scoonie is so coachable" "we will make big changes next season" "we will go away and take our time before making any plans for next season"
Feel free to add any I have missed/forgotten!
We have only played six seasons in EIHL and you have forgot to mention all the positives again
Just goes to show you what can be achieved with even a smaller arena based team when everything is set up for success. That is a blueprint that I would love to see put in place here.
Well done Cardiff.
Cant argue the Devils were in a bad place 3 years ago They will tell you that they are not an Arena Team even though they play out IAW They have a good GM that's proved himself elsewhere and wealthy bank rollers who want success In saying all that I am happy with what we have and will renew my season ticket next year in support of our organisation 5 years of SNL/NPL is not a place where our team should be
we got to 3-1 then within 3 minutes its 5-1 Devils PP and PK impressive we had our chances We can take positives out the game we had a crack at the league champs Schaber our MOM and fully deserved it, Murdy got Devils MOM and he deserved it also Money talks in this league devils with spare imports us an import short Looks like we come out this without any injuries which is main thing Lord trying to act the bigman in the first he never takes on any of the enforcers though we never expected to get anything out this game just glad we booked our play off position last week Looks like it will be Steelers or Giants in PO Giants would be the favoured option
